  • Declutter your home

Converting your old photo albums, film, VHS, Hi8, Video8, MiniDV, Beta, and other tapes to digital format is essential and beneficial for several reasons. Having boxes of memories in your home increases required storage space and also increases the risks of your memories becoming mouldy.

  • Prevent your Memories from being destroyed

Mould on photos and remanence decay may be the result of photos and videos in storage. Remanence decay refers to the gradual loss of magnetic data on analogue tapes, resulting in diminished picture and colour quality. Formats like VHS, SVHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Digital8, DV, and MiniDV are particularly susceptible to this type of decay. Environmental factors such as temperature fluctuations and humidity accelerate this degradation, causing irreparable damage to the magnetic layers that store your video and audio data.

  • The technology is available now

Whether it's home video tapes, family movies, or old audio tapes, we ensure the best preservation and revitalization of your cherished moments. Start your conversion process now and keep your memories safe for the future. These tape players are hard to find but thankfully we still have the technology to recover and convert the tapes. Once the tapes have been converted to digital you can easily share them around. Don't wait till the technology becomes extinct.

  • Stay Dry

Store your analogue tapes in airtight containers with moisture-absorbing sachets.

  • Stay Cool

Keep tapes in a cool, climate-controlled space, as high temperatures accelerate deterioration.

  • Stay Stable

Avoid significant fluctuations in temperature and humidity to prevent degradation and mould growth.

FAQs

How are my photos handled?

We utilise the utmost care when dealing with all photos, albums, slides and negatives, as we understand these are priceless memories. We take special care with particularly fragile or old photos to ensure your photos are returned to you without any damages.

Your items are cleaned only with compressed air or a fine microfiber cloths to avoid damage to images.

How long will it take to complete the conversion?

The time your order takes will depend on the size of your order. Due to the recent increase in demand, orders under 500 photos are generally returned within a week, while larger orders can take a few weeks. During busy times your order may take longer. If your order requires priority (birthday, funeral) please let us know and we will do our best to meet your requirements. Note, a rush fee may apply. For a more accurate estimate please speak to one of our friendly scanning team. If there is any delay, we'll make sure to inform you as soon as possible.

How do order pickups and dropoffs work?

If you are located in Sydney, you can drop your items directly off to our either of our showrooms in Sydney - Drummoyne or Hornsby.

For customers located interstate or who would prefer, you can either post or courier your items directly to us, or we can organise the collection and return service for you.

What sizes can you scan?

We scan all loose photos from wallet size up to A4 at the normal price. We scan photos smaller than wallet size at a higher resolution (1,200dpi) on the manual flatbed scanner at $1.50 per photo. For photos, frames or artwork larger than A4, these will be scanned in multiple parts on the manual flatbed scanner and then digitally stitched together by our restoration expert (quote provided on request).

How can I order and make the payment?

While you can process your order online, we require no upfront payments. Once your order is complete, we will send you an invoice with the exact totals for each type of scanning. Payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card (surcharge applies) or cash (on pickup). When we receive receipt of payment, we will return your items to you.

What resolutions do you offer and recommend for loose photos?

We offer scanning at any resolution between 300dpi and 4,800dpi. We recommend scanning loose photos between wallet size and A4 at 600dpi, as this is ideal for all digital displays (phone, laptop, television etc.). If your photos are especially small, or if you plan to reprint and enlarge the photos down the track, we recommend scanning at a higher quality (1,200dpi).

Where do you complete the scan and conversion jobs?

All our scanning work is completed in our showroom locations in Drummoyne and Hornsby in Sydney, Australia and is not outsourced. Your photos may be privately transported between our 2 stores, but will never leave the dedicated care of our team.
